Diabetes Week 2018
30 May 2018
Monday 11 June to Sunday 17 June 2018
More people than ever – 4.5 million people – are living with diabetes in the UK. Diabetes Week is a time when supporters come together to share their stories and to raise awareness of diabetes. Talking about diabetes can be tricky, awkward, difficult, funny and everything in-between.
We are finding that more and more businesses and Schools are thinking about the number of employees / students they have, or the number of people that use their facilities who could possibly be affected by diabetes. They are concluding that they may need to offer a sharps disposal service for the safe disposal of diabetic needles.
Advice on the Diabetes UK website clearly states that all clippers, needles, syringes and lancets must be disposed of within a sharps disposal unit. This unit must also be collected and disposed of in the correct manner by a provider holding the relevant waste carrier’s license as issued by The Environment Agency.
